get ur own name, don't take suggestions from other people. in my opinion, what you write should have some sort of personal meaning.
^^The reason why so many handstyles suck shit. If you cared about what your tag looked like instead of how it sounded, you wouldn't be having this problem. THERE IS A SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE WAY TO COME UP WITH YOUR NAME...... - It should be decided by your handstyle. WOrk over your alphabet. figure out what letters you can rock the nicest, and arrange them in different orders untill you find something that looks fresh. Done. If that doesn't work, it's because you aren't spending the nessecary time working thru your alphabet to make a good handy. Simple as that. You don't come up with a name, you come up with letters, and fit them together. ....
i did the letters i could do a throw best with. or just...letters that are easy to work with in general. sometimes you have to substitute a letter. but that's how you get better with other letters. im high...i dont know if that made sense.
Word. That's what I'm talking about. If you do a shitload of throw ups, it's in your interest to find the letters that suit your style best for what you do. That's picking a name for quality purposes. Cuzz nobody says " that kid can't do a throw for shit, but his name is legendary fuckin cool sounding and I bet it has a deep meaning behind it, I wish I knew what it meant!" haha.
I think a name that means something can be good. It's not all about how the letters look. If you're a decent writer you can many any letter combination look sick, so pick a name you like, and if it means something to you, go with it.
I'm usually pretty open minded...but you're wrong. It IS ALL about how the letters look. Nobody gives a shit what your name means to you. Flat out. They don't care if it sounds cool. They take notice if it's DOPE STEEZ.= use your letters to make the illest combo you can, regardless of how good or bad your handstyling is. Sure a dope writier can write anything fresh, but his tag is the creme de' la creme. It's gotta look the illest. If you want something that means something, write a fricken Haiku poem. If you wanna throw up tags, make them the sickest. I'm right. .
i think the word you write is important too, but the look is the most important. just search for cool words, and choose the one whith the coolest letters. i got shiva from the satanic bible, it's a hindu god, known as "the destroyer" (the satanic bible sucks btw)
I know what you're saying but I still disagree. I'd rather go with a name that means something and spend that extra bit of time making it look sick, than going with something that flows easy and you can work in minutes. If in the end you can make both look ill, why not go with the one that means something? Even if it's only you that it means shit to.
your tag should mean something to you and other people, cuz no one wants to see that generic times new roman style, just because it "means something" to you.
You'll keep thinking that for a while, until later on in your graffiti career, you notice people don't know what the hell your word means, and you end up not caring what it means. As long as you can pull it off with style, that's all that matters, and Sketch is completely right, most people don't even pronounce it right. You guys will learn, but kids will be kids for now.

Lordloss- I like Eskimo but it isn't that intimidating. Pick something that people won't cross out but don't stress over the name too much. Focus on the letters.
