So I just bought almost 5 pounds of ink. Its Van Son printer ink, its called "Tough Tex" and its specially designed to bond better to stuff like plastic and vinyl.

I thought it would be thinner- the stuff is basically a paste. What should I use to thin it? Denatured alcohol?

I think its oil based but I'm not sure if I should just use paint thinner.

Best thing to do is get some old jars, i use old spice jars, and take a little bit and put some in each and then try both or more, see what works, which seperates, ect. That or google what you bought for info...

There is no info on using this ink for markers. I don't think most printer ink is any good, but this stuff is special printer ink.

I don't think normal paint thinner is good for markers. I'm going to try some alcohol.

Also, I was thinking about using alcohol to thin some rusto oil base and try to get it to flow through markers. Anyone have experience with this?

rusto oil based is mop paint, it'll ruin your markers usually

Ok..... Generally speaking paint goes in mops. Marker paint is xylene based and none of you kids are ready to try anything with that or to refill them. So dont even think about it.

"paint markers" that are water based are complete shit. ei Sharpie poster paints(unless oil based),Other Sharpies all suck unless its the new industrial and has been refilled.

Ink is most commonly based with alcohol, could also be naptha or some other chemical solvent. Paint is not, you thin paint with paint thinner or water whether its oil or acrylic. You never mix ink and paint. EVER.

PLEASE go to the toy section and read the beginner ink thread. the whole thing if you have to;please do; you wont have to ask anymore questions for awhile.

Learn your shit before you post in this thread.

A few uni paints are xylene based. Grog is not xylene based, it comes in a plastic bottle. Junobo also comes in a plastic bottle. I've already refilled plastic markers with it. Ironlak marker paint is water based. There is such a thing as alcohol based paint.

Spray paint is generally water based.

Water based paint isnt "shit". It simply washes off. Not everyone cares if their tags last forever. Most paint and ink scratches off just as easily.

No, you don't thin acrylic base paint with paint thinner. Seriously, anyone can tell you that acrylic is water based.

You are really a stuck up idiot who thinks he knows what hes talking about and doesn't. Learn your shit before you post in this thread. ;)

Im not talking about graffiti ink for marker refills. I was speaking in reference to smaller paint markers like deco's ect.

I also said paint thinner OR WATER depending on whether its oil or ACRYLIC if you actually read what i said.

Spray paint is water based.....? No. It contains Toluene, Acetone, and XYLENE.

you basically repeated what i just said to you. your a fucking retard. Now you failed at trying to talk shit over the internet to, congratulations.

What i said to you previous was GENERALLY SPEAKING. i said that because of everything you said earlier pointed to the fack you didnt know what you were doing when it came to inks. that is this thread right? yeah ok.

Ive been making inks for years, ive made bitumen ink amongst others. You barking up the wrong tree homie.

If you were talking about a specific type of paint marker, then why didn't you say so? There are all different types of paint markers. If you know your shit then you haven't proved it.

Ink is different than paint. I know what I'm doing when it comes to paint.

To say something so general as "marker paint is xylene based" is just not correct.

Can you tell me how you made bitumen ink?

Im a fan of the classic garvey and marsh personally ink wise, but there are several good ones. Also depends if you want color or not. im a fan of illedal's ink too.
Paint refills i usually just make some with oil based bucket paint. I used Junobo for a while though.
