i believe it used to mean what block you stayed at or were up in, in oldschool new york or other cities... maybe a birth year... not so sure now, a number can mean whatever you want it to mean now a days.
Hey everyone, I'm super new. Toy af. I made some slaps on post labels. Is there a way to keep them slick? (Something to put over top of them -- a sealant of some kind?) I want them to last. What do you do? ALSO, is there a thread for toys to show slaps for constructive criticism? Thanks.
So I used to “write” (use the term loosely tags and throwies). I started back after I was blown away and couldn’t stop watching dudes on YouTube get up. I was in Salisbury, NC and there was a free wall so I went and spent like 7 hours just painting. It was pretty rad. Then when I got back home I was on a mission to find abandos or whatever to paint on. Found one after a week of google earth and driving around. It was sick. Put some bullshit up but I stood in front of it pretty damn pleased. My question is there any good tools to find abandos? I think that’s what I want to focus on until I get comfortable with what I’m putting up. I’m just having a real hard time finding anywhere. Thanks.
What does the 'one' orginitate/ stand for after the tag? I know the longer numbers stood for streets/ neighborhoods but where did the one come from? I used to always add this to my tag but never really thought of why, e.g. Kaws One Super curious if anyone know cus I can't find this answer online.
A little late but bubble letters are typically for throw ups. Handstyle is rooted in deviation from calligraphy. So traditionally no .
Cheech Wizard an old 70s comic character used to be that standard for charicture. This being a toy thread. Do any of you know who he is? Can maybe somebody tell me why hes not as relevant? Played out, time, age gap or just lack of knowledge with younger writers? I used to see him regularly on rail cars.
Was a popular comic during graf's inception. V. Bode passed, his son M. Bode picked up the torch a little- he did do some graf but mainly focused on comics and tattoos. Since the 2000s there have been several Bode graf jams in his memory and M. Bode has particpated in some. The original comic was a 60s/70s comic, so no longer made and less in the public eye. Beyond that, there are plenty of younger people in graf who haven't seen the basic beginner books/movies like Style Wars or Spraycan Art so they don't know the roots.
