Except none of the links work so you just have to read the description...

And on topic... Can you use denatured alcohol for pen ink?

quit bitching about the old thread..
.. none of you read through the old pages.. because the old pages were identical to the newer pages. it was the same shit the same questions

    vagrant said it best

" Posting good information in hopes of improving the recipe thread, creating inks and posting their recipe with an action shot, answering questions if you can, discussing current inks, and brainstorming/theorizing about possible new inks at least has THE POSSIBILITY of making this new, fresh thread a success. Or at least better than the old thread."

its just a refresh of information ..

now 750 posts deep the same mo fuckers who want better for the forum .. are just blabbering and bitching and posting just for the sake of their opinion .. you dont have to chat in here 24/7 if you got info post it .. if you dont then go talk in the general discussion thread. go ahead and make a thread in there ..YOU CAN !! ..
    try to keep this
question and answer and just for recepies.. 720 posts so far and like 5 or 6 actual recipes ... the rest is the wieners who ran the old thread into the dirt..

now im gonna go drink my coffee .

have a good day to all. go write on something .. outside of your backyard .

    yea

    oinkartltd.com

or go to a party supply store or a crafts store and look for window chalk markers . or bingo daubers .. other decent brands of silver ink are made by.. krink and grog.. then again you can always make your own paint version .. using the GK recipe in the ink/recipe sticky ..

    Wrong.
Denatured Alcohol is traditionally 90% Ethanol (pure alcohol) and 10% Methanol

You can use denatured or the more common Isopropyl Alcohol for your pen ink recipes. Isopropyl Alcohol is very very similar, and you should be able to find it in smaller quantities in drug stores, grocery stores, etc. Whereas Denatured is found in quart sized cans at hardware stores.

I know I or somone else has said them all before, but just to bump the info

    GK Additives

Hydrochloric Acid (Found in Home Depot/Lowes in the outdoor section)
Japan Drier or Ether (Found at any art store or Home Depot/Lowes)
Paint Hardener or Poly (Same as above)
    Linseed Oil (Art Stores)
Butimen (Kind of hard to find, I've seen it at Home Depot before, just look around)

Just a few to help people that want better GK.

can we have a recap on what those do exactlty
Linseed Oil makes it dry faster and harden right?

Linseed Oil is a vehicle for suspending pigment.
Japan Drier would make it dry faster and harden
Paint hardeners or polyurethane would make it harden

then why didn't you ask that? wow.

"I want to know what hydrochloric acid and bitumen do when added to GK so I'll ask about linseed oil, that will get me the answer I want"

i dont really know the uses for these. the acid might have an etch effect? bitumen make the GK waterproof? im not sure
