I've got a couple questions about wheatpaste, since I'm thinking about trying it out this week.

I've heard that it can wreck your pots and what not and make a mess of them, so should I go buy myself a pot for cooking up wheatpaste so that it won't matter if it gets wrecked?

And I've been told that it smells, does it smell while you're cooking it? I don't really want my kitchen to be stuck smelling like something awful, my parents would freak.

Sorry if those are really toy questions, but I'm just curious.

raccoon- it could ruin your pot if you dont clean it right away. so yeah go buy your own pot just to be safe if your parents arnt down with that and yeah it dosnt smell as your cooking. it smells like fresh bread a little but if you let it sit for a few days it progressively starts to smell more and more like a baboons asshole. and yeah there not toy questions you wouldnt know unless you do it. who cares if you look like an idiot on the net. at least your not stuck with your mom snapping on you cause you ruined her pots and the kitchen smells like a dick right?

with your pots you can usually just scrape/ wash it off, but you need to make sure to do it asap.

it smells pretty foul after a while, but not too badly when your making it. just have some air freshener or something around when your making it.

EDIT: damnit, beaten to the punch

If you're just making paste with flour and water it doesn't wreck your pots and it doesn't smell bad while it's cooking. It's just flour and water, after all. It does tend to get real sticky on dishes so wash them right away and use stainless steel if you've got 'em.

I've just switched to Shur Stik cellulose powder, it's way better and you don't have to cook it.

keep it in the fridge if you're not using it, sealed in an airtight container.

Thanks for the advice earlier, everyone.

I have another question though. I have access to a sealing product for concrete and such. It basically is a product that you roll onto your finished concrete products or whatever and it just acts as a protective barrier. Lasts a very long time, it's SUPER permanent. Does anyone know if this type of product is useable for wheat paste? It kind of acts like a glue, it's very very sticky and when dry, you cant get it off anything.

Just wondering if this type of thing has been tried before, or if there are other products that you can use to substitute for the flour/water mix.

Since paint in my city just got locked up everywhere (age restrictions, need to be 18 now), and I don't rack my stuff, it's extremely hard for me to get a hold of it, and I'm looking at other means of getting art up. Wheat paste is just grabbing my attention like crazy, especially since it's not really a big thing in my city, and I like the fact that I get to take time at home and make a poster and then slap it up.

I don't know anything about your fixative but it sounds dope. Just try it out and see how it works. Keep an eye on the drying time too.

Yeah man, wheatpasting is alot of fun. The reason I got into it is it's pretty much the only way to get up here other than freights. I live in a small city where the paint is open, but it's the DUI capitol of the country. (No shit) not because we have more drunks than anywhere else but because we have a ridiculously massive police force. You can't swing your meatstick without hitting a squad car, so if you want ups in fresh spots, painting is out of the question. Postering is easy local fame.

    pussy

jokes. I did a peice on a billboard the other day that was pretty fun, but i've stopped posting flicks cause i swear the polica are after me. Getting werid people trying to talk to me claiming they know who i am saying there into graff and how me and them should go for a bomb. haha fuck that shit.

Only 4 people know about my graff habit and i don't think they would tell anyone i like to keep it on the low low.

I have to stop graff kinda. I got expelled and my mum and me have serious problems so my dad (parents are divorced) paid for me to go to boarding school in the country. I guess going for a bomb every 3 weeks isn't too bad but its going to push me to my limits going to have it hit shit hard. Have no idea why i am posting this in here. Mainly boredem. I think graff has messed up my body clock i can't stay up past 10pm. and wake up at like 11am. and getting good night sleep but always tired. GOTTA BOMB LESS! WHOOPS. Its 10:30 right now and i'm about to hit the hay. Right noticed i'm a senior member, now i really feel like i have power over people! rawr. I'm going to start dealing bud at my new school. Yummy, my mum found my glass bong formly known as voldemort.

Kinda just ranted a bit aye. I have like 10 pictures i want to upload but won't sorry guys!
