mixed up some ace hardware oil based (Metallic aluminum) with some denatured alcohol. shit kills it looks exactly like the deco silver and is real opaque, but without the xylene smell =) im hooked on oil based paints now i think
really stains just as hard? cuz methylene blue will stay true to it's color even thru multiple coats of light color (as i'm sure you probably know) anyways, for everyone who doesn't have the 90% alcohol...you can try putting the 70% alcohol in the freezer for a day or two (water freezes, alcohol doesn't) it might not pour out 99%, but it'll be atleast a little higher than the previous 70%
you do where i am and does meths work cus i can get that easier than alcohol. do you mean purple or clear meths?
^meths? and i just picked up soem linseed oil, what do i use it for? like can i use it instead of thinner to thin oil based paints, and how do i use it with pigments to mak paint?
you cant buy alcohol, like rubbing antispetic alcohol, in the UK? i find this hard to beleive. And what exactly is methylene blue? where is is bought? And wallace what ratio of alc to paint did you use?
linseed oil is the traditional way to go with oil paint... i don't know about bucket oil paint, but that's what they use for thinning artists oil paint that's why it's called oil paint...cuz it's pigment and oil
methylene blue is a dye used in the science field for dying cells. its water based, and hardly soluble in alcohol. its a darkkk blue, and peopel add it to inks because its mad permanant, and will also show through paint if your tag is painted over. u can get it at some pet stores, in teh fish isle(its used as an anti-fungus treatment). if not, then grab soem from your bio class, ull prbably use it in there. And the ratio of paint to thinner, or de-natured alcohol is 2/3 paint, 1/3 thinner
u cant buy alcohol in the uk if you're under 18 incase someone drinks it lol meths is methylated spirit
It's true, its super hard to find, most chemists don't have any sort of alcholl, you'd be lucky to find 70%
