whatchu talkin bout willis? naw, you can buy spray adhesive at wal-mart. i believe i remember seeing with the tire cleaner, auto section. it was bottom row corner at my location, took me by surprise. like whoa.
That recipe works soooooo good im so happy ive finally got one thats good. PM me if you want it!! And does anyone know how to use GIMP?
some of my ups from last night: no new posters, just used a few stencils that I hadn't sprayed very many times yet. Indgo Child and Jerm Inc
i like the falling text. is the paper its printed on anything in particular? also i was looking to do a fairly large piece, but due to what it is/size i will probably need to do it by hand. any recommendations on paper or drawing medium? markers? what brands etc? i imagine butcher paper would suffice.
what? and mute, if its a smaller picture your trying to blow up, id say use the grid method. For drawing, I usually use pilot jumbos for the big thick spaces, and then fine/med point paint markers for the rest. Id be sure to add a couple layers of clear coat(valspar crystal clear) to make sure its more durable.
the falling text isn't mine, its done by Jerm Inc. They use A4 paper that's just a little bit thicker than printer paper. Get em printed at Kinko's. You want paper that's thin enough to adhere well to the wall. The hanging man on the left of the photo is spraypainted on 120 gsm drawing paper which is too heavy. But was all I had at the time. I am currently using white cartridge paper which is similar to newsprint in weight and comes in big pads like newsprint. It works well. Newsprint or craft paper also works well but I don't like the brown color. Just personal preference. You can use regular printer paper also, but if you're doing something real big thats a lot of pieces to paste up. As for drawing medium - if you use markers to gotta get oil based paint markers so they don't wash away or fade. I use Sharpie oil paint markers but have never done anything really large with them. You can use charcoal and pencil and whatnot which holds up surprisingly well once sprayed with fixative and gives a really interesting look to it. But depends on what kinda aesthetic you're goin for.
i ment the tiny printed text behind the falling letters ok, i'll look into the oil based markers. i think all i have is a few prismacolors and sharpies. i do have some charcoal, and a ton of fixative, maybe i'll try that. haven't used them in a while but would probably do a better job at what i'm trying to achieve. is that all i would need to do to protect the charcoal? just fixative? and thanks for the suggestions, chub. just finished stitching this together. not sure when i will get around to pasting it. same method as before. sorry about the darkness.
well this is a reproduction of the original which was hand stenciled letters (the big ones, done with marker) overtop of printed text (the small stuff). They scanned everything after doing all the initial stencil work so that they could just print out more copies whenever. Fixative works on its own but if you want extra protection use some clearcoat overtop of that. Might smudge a bit, but if you do a few coats of fixative first it should be ok. Maybe test it out with something small.
Okay, i've made wheatpaste before.. and its turned out perfect. But that was when i lived near some nice town and they had like real wheat flour. Now i live in baltimore and well, the only grocery store near me is some extremely discount store and i dont even know if the flour here is actually flour. So with this new extremely cheap, extremely questionable flour i tried to make paste. But every time, it would just turn to a brick of jello in the fridge... wtf?
get wallpaper paste instead. or use less flour more water. Zipperface: another stencil I made a while back and only used once or twice.
Are you saying you want to do it the size of the longboard? and btw nice board. I ride a sector nine luke nosewalker. Thang is badasss
Here are my first posters, just mainly figuring it out. Thought I'd kill some adverts at the same time.
