micodoc is right, cutting lines looks better cuz most graff artists i know, hate pple who use tape nd shit. you can so tell when someone uses tape, it gives it like the most perfect hard edge ever, which in my opinion looks pretty gay cuz i like the soft edge. but yea, using tape is sorta cheating cuz your finding an easier way to get your piece looking better without your own skills. the only cardborad you shoud use is a stencil.

ya, most the advice has been given. practice is just about the only way to do it without tape. i will say that the cap can effect your lines as well as the can, if u have a high pressure can your gunna have to move fast, it will be more likely to drip, try a Montana
Alien can they are low pressure so you can move nice and slow with it and learn to keep a steady hand. if u want crisp lines watch your caps, usualy the wider teh spray the more random particles will fly around the line itself.

... or you could try what my friend did and by a can of silly string and try to get it to stick to a wall in a straight line with as little build up as posible... those things are crazy high pressure

    i dont like you.

you can use gold dots on high pressure ass cans and the paint will come out fairly slow and not drip

even with 750ml cans. i tried it today, just wondering about it.

anyways, gold dots are good for practice, plus if you waiver or shake while you are outlining with a gold dot, it will show, so it will help you learn to not do that and to keep one consistent length.

when u bomb, dont just rapid fire fill it do the outlines , fill and shadow in high detail arching your hand , find diffrent angles that work best.
i have been very fortunite to have met some vet writers if you know any ask them about can control they will tell u all the things u need to know about things like this depending of cource on the person most will happily school you on how to hold the can for a particular effect.

    experimentation through failure and achievment...
haha , when you gotta paint i seen nice piece done with just pink dots so it aint about how many grey dots ya got left in ya baggies.

confidence in your skills and equipment.
also ghosting the line in which u intend to paint comes in handy.

    go to some graff expos?
watch others paint and ask questions when they are having a break.

buy some very big pannels and set them up in your back yard thin sheets of fibre board work best...to ensure longevity i painted mine first with house paint so they didnt warp.
5 years have passed and only thing fucked is the corners.
i hope my advice was in someway helpful.
when i was 16 no one would show me jack shit so if someone shows u some good skills give props and they will show u more.
