hahaha, expired? Or maybe you just put too much paste in...and your gnome posters are terrible man. Dont use excuses like "my marker went through the wash, it was 2 am, i was bored..." Just man up and admit that they suck and work on them and make them better? Excuses just make everything worse.

i put a poster up about 2 months ago and the paste i used was just the normal flour water and sugar heated up. but its gone really black i dont know if its dirt sticking to the paste or its mould or what. i tried using wallpaper paste but its not nearly as strong. does anyone know how to stop it from happening

    I used the:
    1 Cup flour
    for every
    1 1/2 cup water
recipe mentioned in the first post on this thread, and i just wanted to say this recipe is great! even though, it IS my first time tryin out weatpaste, i was pleased with the results.

About halfway through making it though, i was pretty damn worried it wouldn't work because I had this huge pile of goo in the pan but the longer i let it heat and stirred, the thinner it got. but not too thin....just right. :)

i made this design of my karac on my computer and decided it would be easy to just print this pic off so i don't have to redraw each poster.

p.s. haha i had a lot of realy crappy pictures i drew on that thing but i've covered it up mostly, besides the bad sticker, my name in numbers(go idk what i was thinking), and my name in japanese. haha

here's what i did up close. i need to practice not to smear the ink, and how to work out them air bubbles.

All in all, i'm pleased with how easy this is and how many more possibilities there are with weatpaste rather than stickers.

    thanx for the tips. :)

    peace

Nice work. I see you used the squirt bottle. ;) If your ink is smearing, I'd try misting the poster with some clear acrylic matte coating. But just mist over it heavily. don't spray directly at it.

I go back and forth between teknabond and the classic flour/sugar/water recipe. I like the classic recipe better. I've got posters going thru their second harsh winter and no sign of peeling.

i'll drop some knowledge for this thread, i guess. walking down street with a coat or hoodie on, you can have all your posters folded up in your sleeves. carry a big ole mcdonalds cup, filled with your paste and a brush. unless you're doing big big stuff, a brush that can fit in the cup should work just fine. the folds in your posters will correct themselves when you paste 'em up.

joe-blow walking sees you walking down the street with nothing but a winter coat and a soda pop.

i pasted up one of my lil skulls on the way home today and that was my first time pasting, glad to say its as easy as one two three.

also, teef, is right i did the exact same but with a water bottle instead and put it in my big poket on my sweater.

i'm hoping to do a bunch of these little "Minions" as i call them. haha i there little two colored grimlins who fly around and do my main karak's(skull with the afro) work.

i picture my cheractor holding a paint can, and holding his other hand out as one of my little grimlins flies off his hand. and it should wrap around this wall.

i'll draw up a sketch on paper or the computer and post it up on here in a lil bit.

if was to do that misting thing with acrylic matte coating, would it keep my colors from bleeding? im thinking im gonna have to use prismas to color one of mine, and i dont want the colors to bleed, or fade for that matter...

is there something other than prismas i should use?

    Well here's something interesting.

so when u make wheatpaste and store it in an airtight bottle such as the one i used in the pictures on my last posts. Make sure u use it within about, the first 2 or 3 days, because (and this just happened) if u let it sit for a while, it starts to compress air or something.

well, i'm sitting on my floor in my room watching Comedy Central when out of nowhere, i hear my backpack start to make this weird fizzing noise, it almost sounded like a zipper. anyways, i looked through my backpack for the source as it was increasing in sound, when i realized it was coming from my bottle of wheatpaste. well me being the idiot that i am i decied it would be best to pop up that littl cap thingy to give it some air.
THAT WAS THE WRONG THING TO DO!
the very second i opened it, BLAM! wheatpaste all over my room. i was left there watching the wheat paste LITERALLY spray out of the tube, as i franticly try to figure out what to do (so just seal the cap again right? well it wasn't til after the whole ordeal that i realized i should have.)

    in short,
    1. use wheatpaste as soon as possible,
    2. don't do what i did and open it in your room like a dumbass
    3. usually if you hear a bottle filled with something homemade and its Fizzing, it might be a good idea to just get that bottle out of the house as quick as possible.

so now i'm left with cleaning wheatpaste off my mirrors, window, walls, and my freaking tv screen! and my room smells horrible, DON"T SMELL YOUR WHEAT PASTE! YOU"LL GAG! haha

well hopefully this should be commen sense to most of you but i figured if i did it someone else might as well. haha if only i had my camera though, i have to admit it was pretty cool to watch haha.

    peace.

what i did..i just take them big blank newspaper rolls (like elementary kids use for drawing)..and like, I got this screen print press I use..realll simple..a 2 boards of wood, 2 hindge clamps, and a screen and I just screen print my imge onto paper with plastisol ink..that shit never drys..unless u cure it..send it in the oven for about 2 mins..in 350 degrees..and that shit will not come out..if u were to try to scratch it off, you just end up rippin the paper...but, it works great when wheat pastin..u can splash all the water on it, and the shit aint gonna run or anything..its the same ink they use on printed shirts n such..but yeah, that what I use..keeps the image fresh and no smearin...i'll try an send some pics.
