mysft your right to a point. yes biting can be useful when you first start out. to HELP and get INSPIRATION. posting practically someone elses exact letters then tryin to win a battle with them. is jus a fuckin silly thing to do. you take shapes, bits, bars etc. then apply them to progressing your own style. newbies taking exact letters doesnt help anyone. at all. because they still dont learn how the letter works. they learn people think that particular writers letters are 'dope'. bite. and end up not properly progressin. because they start to rely on others letters. like learning handstands against a wall. after a while, you end up relyin on the wall. and jus hurt yourself when you take the wall away. basically. writers work for years to get a style, then some random newbie comes along thinks its 'dope' then gets props for doin a google image search and copyin out some letters is jus fucked up. bitings wrong. inspect and apply. fuckit im witterin...
sketching is never wrong battling is never wrong most "newbies" here couldnt even win a battle even if they do bite the whole piece so no i disagree still but yes i do hear what your saying, its isnt exactly the best way to win

I think individual style is extremely important... Did I bite when I started? sure... but I used it as a starting point and worked my ass off to create a style that reflected my personality... thats what a lot of you dont understand... your style is YOU... something you developed over years of hard work. Mysfyt, if you are ok with simply copying a different writer everyday and never putting any of your own creativity into your work, so be it... but thats the attitude that will prevent you from ever contributing anything original or even worth remembering. Its like dressing like a skater one day, a prep on another day, and a gothic idiot on another... might be fun, but who the hell are you? I encourage spark to take a look at others work, and then look away and put some of himself into it... You'll only be truly satisfied when you know YOU created a new style, even if its based on influence from another... then maybe someday a kid will copy your work... I never asked to be in the advanced polls. I was just placed in it. And to be honest, if I had a nice style like Geser and someone bite off of me, I would be flattered. Why? Your style is obviously admired to the point where they stole it or used it. And at the beginning, I said that I bite and it wasn't my original stuff. So basically, all these pages that are continuing to go on, is crying over split milk. What has been done has been done.
